This free webinar offers a new approach to sustainability in higher education. It includes suggestions for educators to integrate sustainability-as-flourishing into their practice. To date, sustainability-as-flourishing is underdeveloped in the education literature. It includes suggestions for educators to integrate sustainability-as-flourishing into their practice. This webinar critiques current approaches to sustainability, which often reflect a narrow understanding of human needs and do not demand necessary transformation in the way we interact with the world around us. International speakers

Dr. John R. Ehrenfeld is a long-standing and influential voice in the sustainability debate. He was Director of the MIT Program on Technology, Business, and Environment. From 2000-2009, John served as Executive Director of the International Society for Industrial Ecology. He continues to do research, write, and teach, most recently at several emerging MBA for Sustainability programs. He is the author of “Flourishing: A Frank Conversation About Sustainability” and “Sustainability by Design: A Subversive Strategy for Transforming our Consumer Culture” (USA).

Antony Upward. Sustainability Business Arquitect; Pracademic – a practicing academic and a designer of flourishing enterprises. As a practitioner, Antony is a Certified Management Consultant with 30 years of experience as a Sustainability Business Architect and Flourishing Enterprise Designer. In his practice, he empowers business leaders and entrepreneurs to design enterprises that are simply better: socially beneficial, environmentally regenerative and financially viable. Co-founder of Strongly Sustainable Business Model Group (SSBM), Canada.

Fernando Vera, PhD. Doctor of Science Education; Master of Educational Administration and Management; Master of Curriculum and Evaluation; Master of Technology, Learning and Education. Fernando is highly trained in generic skills development and active methodologies. He is the Founder & CEO of REDIIE, Chile. As a new academic challenge, he is currently pursuing his second Doctorate, with an international mention, in the program «Globalization under Examination: Interdisciplinary Challenges and Responses«, University of the Basque Country, Spain.

Moderator

Alejandra Vidal. Physical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and MsC. in research. Alejandra has experience in programs of social appropriation of knowledge, in research in social development projects, entrepreneurship and game design. She is currently teaching subjects related to Project-Based Learning, innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and design thinking at EAFIT University. She also coordinates research seedbeds in Innovation and entrepreneurship at EAFIT, Colombia.
